Triple European Rugby champions Toulon have signed All Black back-liner Tom Taylor
from Bayonne with the Pro D2 side extending the stay of Fijian international
centre Gabiriele Lovobalavu.
Taylor, 26, will join Toulon from November after Lovobalavu has returned from
World Cup duty in England.
Former Crusaders back Taylor can play at flyhalf, inside centre or fullback.
Taylor, capped three times for the All Blacks in 2013, joined Bayonne in March
2015 on a three-year deal before their relegation to Pro D2.
Lovobalavu, 30, arrived in France in 2008 spending four seasons with Toulon
before joining Bayonne in 2012.
Often injured he has played 35 matches in the Top 14.
Capped 19 times for Fiji Lovobalavu’s contract was not extended when the club
were relegated from the top flight last June.
But centre Thibault Lacroix’s recent cruciate ligament injury has resulted
in Lovobalavu’s return to south eastern France after the World Cup where Fiji
are in the daunting Pool D with England, Australia, Wales and Uruguay.
